The Reserve is located on the southern slope of the eastern central mountains in the department of Antioquia, Colombia, sharing boundaries between the municipalities of Puerto Triunfo, San Luis and Sonson, 40 km form the head waters of the Rio Claro River, in the Alto del Tigre and the Alto de la Osa (Sonson), and 57 kilometers from the mouth... that goes into the Magdalena River. This nature reserve, is a private initiative project, which began in 1970, with environmental awareness to suppors the protection of tropical rainforests in the Canyon of Rio Claro, while developing ecotourism with recreational-educational programs within the protected area.

This haven of tropical vegetation is characterized by rain forests that grow on limestone rocks in the marble deposits in the region of Northern Rio Claro. It is one of the most important and beautiful reserves in the centre of the country.
It is a place which has a high biodiversity in its flora and fauna are unparalleled. An indescribable beauty is reflected in the transparency of the river, which over millions of years was opened through on the high hills of stone, to form the most splendid Marble Canyon that exists in Colombia.


Welcome to the Reserve. When we opened this splendid place to the public, our intention was to share its magic and strength to sensitize, educate and raise awareness among visitors about the biological importance of conserving these paradise.
